![]() You could describe it sort of like a mood ring, informing you "how you sound to other people." It does this in real-time during individual sessions, placing you moment-by-moment on a square graph with each corner representing a different category of emotion: excited, happy, sad, and angry. The second feature, Tone, analyzes your voice during conversations. You have to put complete faith and trust in Amazon's security and privacy protocols. Amazon claims the images are deleted immediately after processing, but there's no getting around the creepiness factor. The photos are uploaded to the cloud and processed for the purpose of estimating your body fat and tracking it over the course of your program. They're called "Body" and "Tone." The first and more off-putting involves taking full-body photos of yourself with, in the app's words, minimal clothing on. There are two opt-in features though that I found to be kind of creepy. It didn't happen again, but it was an annoying and confusing hiccup nonetheless. I enabled cloud syncing in the app settings, hoping that would lessen the chance of that happening again. After that doing that, the Halo app had forgotten my data and needed to pair with the View a second time, which wasn't possible until I factory reset the View. After toying with it for a few hours, I happened to reboot my smartphone. One major problem I ran into with the app happened soon after the initial setup. Depending on your screen size and how up-to-date your lens prescription is, watching the video you're supposed to be following can be a challenge. My one complaint is that during the assessment I had to stand pretty far from my smartphone, 7 to 10 feet, to allow the camera full view of my person. I was almost immediately watching videos, scoring activity points, and, yes, feeling the burn. Specifically, I liked how easy Movement made it to start improving my fitness. ![]() Related: 14_selecting_internet_options.png For this and other features, I didn't have the equipment to test for accuracy, but generally, the data seemed to jive with what I was feeling. It can also check your blood oxygen level, though not passively-you have to run a test and stand completely still for the duration. It was one of my goals with this band to learn whether or not my activity levels were good enough against the amount of sitting I do at work, and that score helped me achieve that goal. The View can track your heart rate, steps, calories burned, sedentary time, calculate a nightly sleep score (after syncing with the app), and generate a weekly "activity score." It figures that based on your steps and exercise sessions, minus some points for sedentary time. As long as they aren't completely ugly, I'm usually fine with defaults. Personally, I don't mind this, as I'm pretty utilitarian about my tech. You have eleven choices, and only a few look very different from the others. If you like the idea of customizing your watchface, though, prepare to be underwhelmed.

I also wish the Snipping Tool gave access to previous screenshots as the OneDrive option above and the SnagIt option below do. As it is now, you have to take the image into Microsoft Paint, Paint 3D, or some other image-editing program to get this simple capability. I’d like to be able to, for example, choose a 16:9 widescreen size, and I doubt I’m alone in that. One beef I have with this utility’s crop feature is that it doesn’t offer aspect ratio options. You can also print the image or open it in another app from the menu options. A Share button lets you send the image using Windows 11's standard share panel. You can save the screenshot and any edits using the disk icon (some visual metaphors never die). If you don't want to take up the disk space, you can change it in the Snipping Tool's Settings, accessible from the app's three-dot menu at top right. With recent Windows 11 updates, you can set the screenshots to save immediately to a folder of your choice. And a finger button lets you draw on a touch screen. ![]() Here, you can mark up the screenshot with a pen or highlighter, crop the image, or use a ruler to draw straight lines. Or you can click the thumbnail to open the Snipping Tool interface (shown below). You can ignore it if you plan to paste the screenshot into another app because the image is already saved to the clipboard. Once you release the cursor, you see a notification in the lower right with a thumbnail image of the screenshot. For the window option, just click over the target window the full screen capture happens as soon as you click on that last button. If you change your mind after you press Windows Key-Shift-S and don’t want to take a screenshot, use the Esc key to back out.įor the first two options, draw with the cursor to select the area you want to capture. That keyboard shortcut gives you a choice to take a screenshot using a rectangular snip, freehand selection, window, or full-screen capture (that’s the order of the icons you choose from in the image above). The easiest way to get to the Snipping Tool is to press Windows Key-Shift-S. Windows 11 cleans up the previous confusion of how to take a screenshot in Windows by taking all the functionality from Windows 10’s terrific Snip & Sketch tool and rolling it into the new Snipping Tool. Use the Snipping Tool (Credit: Microsoft) ![]() (Note the different placement of the PrtScn key on the keyboard in the image above.) You can also paste the image anywhere right after using this method, since it's copied to the clipboard. This method causes the screen to dim briefly and places a PNG file in the Pictures > Screenshots folder by default. Use this option if you want to take screenshots and automatically save them somewhere other than OneDrive. Here's yet another way to use the PrtScn key: Use the keyboard shortcut Windows Key-PrtScn. ![]() Use the Windows Key-PrtScn Keyboard Shortcut (Credit: PCMag) It's also handy when I don't have time to save an image file in a separate step, such as during a live presentation. I always use this method when I think I may need to use the screenshot as an image file rather than just pasting it somewhere. You can then access it from any device OneDrive (there are clients for every major platform as well as a web version). Right after you take the screenshot, a notification appears clicking it takes you right to the folder with the file highlighted. The filename uses the current date and time. Instead, an image file in PNG format is automatically created in the OneDrive/ username/Pictures/Screenshots folder. You no longer have to open an image app or paste from the clipboard. That one simple check box changes everything about PrtScn. Choose Settings and then the Backup tab of the dialog box and check Save Screenshots I capture to OneDrive. To do it, click or right-click on OneDrive’s cloud icon on the right side of the taskbar. I include this method separately from the standard PrtScn option because the result is so different and saves you the extra steps of opening an app and pasting from the clipboard. Using the print screen key, you can also automatically create an image file of your screenshot that saves to OneDrive. Use the PrtScn Key With OneDrive (Credit: Microsoft) In Windows 11, the result can be a little strange because the rounded corners are extended to squared-off corners, since image files are always rectangular. Using this keyboard shortcut saves the current window to the clipboard, and from there you must paste it into an imaging application. ![]() If you want to capture only the active window and not the full desktop image, add the Alt key, for Alt-PrtScn. Usually pericarditis occurs suddenly (acute) but less commonly can be more indolent and persistent (chronic). Sometimes analysis of the fluid removed helps determine the cause. This is done with a pericardiocentesis where a needle is inserted through the skin of the lower chest and through the pericardium so that fluid can be drained to relieve the pressure around the heart. Pericardial tamponade and sometimes moderate to large pericardial effusions (even without tamponade) require the pericardial effusion to be drained, sometimes very urgently. This can lead to a life-threatening condition known as pericardial tamponade. ![]() However, pericardial effusions can grow and if this occurs rapidly or leads to a large pericardial effusion, a significant amount of pressure from the fluid build-up can cause the heart to not be able to fill or beat properly. ![]() Most cases of pericarditis cause minimal fluid build-up and can be monitored with an echocardiogram and will gradually resolve. When the pericardium is inflammed, it can leak inflammatory fluid which can build up between the pericardial layers (percardial effusion). The pericardium normally has two layers, an inner or visceral pericardium lining the heart and an outer parietal pericardium with a very small amount of fluid between the pericardial layers to help prevent friction between the two surfaces and to help cushion the heart. Most patients recover in two to four weeks. In more severe acute cases, steroids sometimes are added. While antibiotics infrequently are required for non-viral infectious causes, most cases are treated with NSAID’s (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as indomethacin, ibuprofen or naproxen) and sometimes cochicine is added to help decrease the pain and inflammation. Infrequently, arrhythmias can occur such as atrial fibrillation. Pericarditis can cause shortness of breath and it can be accompanied by fever and fatigue. Trauma, tumors, cancer and radiation to the chest are also less common causes. In up to half of cases it occurs for no discernable cause (idiopathic) but pericarditis can be related to auto-immune (or immunological) inflammatory conditions such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and rheumatoid arthritis or be caused by certain medications. It can occur due to general inflammation after a heart attack, typically larger heart attacks (Dressler’s syndrome) or after open-heart or chest surgery (post-pericardiotomy syndrome). Pericarditis can be caused by an infection, most commonly viral infections although rarely bacterial or fungal infections can be the cause (the most common cause outside of the US is tuberculosis). The pain may radiate to the shoulder, neck or back and is typically sharp and “stabbing.” The chest pain may feel like pain from a heart attack and, thus, if you have chest pain, you should call 9-1-1 right away. The chest pain is caused by the inflamed pericardium rubbing against the heart. Pericarditis typically causes chest pain, most commonly worsening with taking in a deep breath (pleuritic chest pain), sometimes worsening when lying down and often relieved by sitting up and leaning forward. In the medical world, the suffix “-itis” at the end of a medical term refers to inflammation. “Peri” means surrounding and “cardium” means the heart. It can be a successful option for people who have pericarditis that goes away and comes back or who have end-stage constrictive pericarditis, which develops when the pericardium becomes thickened and scarred.Pericarditis (perikar’ DI-tis) is a condition in which the fibrous sac-like covering around the heart (pericardium) becomes inflamed. This treatment is only recommended when medicine or other treatments have not worked. Pericardiectomy is a surgery to remove part or most of the pericardium.Risks of the procedure are rare but include bleeding, infection, or damage to the heart. With pericarditis, corticosteroids are used only in people who are not responding to or cannot take NSAIDs. Corticosteroids like prednisone lower the activity of the body’s immune system.Side effects are mainly gastrointestinal and include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Medicines to relieve pain and reduce inflammation include colchicine, aspirin, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen. The goal of most treatments is to lessen pain, lower inflammation of the pericardium, and fix pericardial Treatment can vary from person to person depending on the cause and how severe it is.
